The “Carlo Levi” High School – Liceo Scientifico Statale in Irsina (MT) in collaboration with Consorzio Materahub – Industrie culturali e creative (MT) in, April 11th, 2025 together launched a cutting-edge 20-hour PCTO (Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation) program titled “Future Skills – Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Spaces“. The project was delivered in collaboration with the Materahub Cultural and Creative Industries Consortium.
This integrated initiative combined two significant European projects: “Business Skills for Youth in the CCIs sector” (BuS Youth) and “Exploring Green Futures: Integrating the New European Bauhaus into Art and Design Education” (Futures DesignED). The aim is to equip students with the “future skills” necessary to navigate global challenges and build a better future, with a specific focus on responsible youth entrepreneurship and the design of sustainable, accessible, and innovative spaces in line with the principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB).
The training program focus on acquiring basic entrepreneurial skills, using online platforms for learning, participatory space design, accessibility, soft skills, biophilia, and the circular economy. Students have the opportunity to develop creative and sustainable business ideas, also working on a Project Work entitled “Pitch my business Idea” with the support of the Sustainable Creative Project Canva tool.
Key Training Objectives
- Acquire essential entrepreneurial skills.
- Utilize online platforms for specific training.
- Obtain certification of acquired skills through Youthpass.
- Support youth entrepreneurship with principles of sustainability and inclusion.
- Understand and apply the concepts of participatory design, accessibility, biophilia, and the circular economy.
- Explore the creation of hybrid and alternative learning spaces in line with the NEB.
- Develop fundamental soft skills for collaboration and leadership.
- Receive information on European exchange and training opportunities.
The schedule of activities includes
- April 11th, 2025 (2 synchronous hours): Launch of the BuS Youth Project at the “Carlo Levi” Institute in Irsina with Annamaria Guarino from Materahub.
- April 16th, 2025 (2 synchronous hours):
Kick-off of the Future DesignED Project, focusing on accessibility and sustainability in school spaces - April 28th, 2025 (1 synchronous + 1 asynchronous hour):
Online training by Giulia Fornari (Materahub) on entrepreneurial basics and the launch of Project Work - April 29th – May 10th, 2025 (8 asynchronous hours):
Independent learning and student work on Module 2 and the Project Work - May 15th, 2025 (6 synchronous hours):
Final in-person event at Officina Creativa Materahub in Matera, featuring workshops, project presentations, and a session on European mobility and training opportunities (Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs).
This initiative, in addition to representing a model of public-private cooperation, highlights the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and private organizations engaged in education and innovation.
